Washington D.C.

I've been spoiled, seen the good side of life, and reality comes crashing in.  Case in point:  Work on Tuesday until 6pm and I still had 1.5 hours to do on the bike, and was flying to D.C. the next morning and had to be up at 4am, so I said forget the workout, it's not worth stringing myself out before travelling... Am bound and determined not to become one of those neurotic people who get angry and worry about missing a workout, thinking " everyone is getting better and fitter while I had to work all day and now have no time to complete this workout!!"  I will probably be better served in the long run by taking the time off...

Missing workouts here and there is not going to hurt you at all, what will hurt you is if you ram the workout down your own throat, go through the motions, wake up the next morning angry and tired, and spend the next three to four days trying to recover from your pride tempting you to forsake all intelligence and wisdom.  It's only a sport after all, meant to enhance the quality of your life, not ruin it...

Washington D.C. and a much needed change of scene for training, and just because.  Also seen some rain and heard some thunder.  After wearing out the roads in Boulder, and not seeing a drop of rain in what seems like years, D.C. seems like a veritable green paradise, full of plants and water!

Theoretically speaking I should be doing a half-ironman race this sunday, so i'm in the last week of a five month program, tapering the exercise down to practically nothing.  Went for 1 hr 15 min run yesterday, and did probably 3,000 yards in the pool this morning.  Have added carrying around my nephew (~40 lbs) to the training regimen this week.  It feels good to be in the early stages of spring and already be in tip-top condition, let's hope it lasts...

Not planning any more "formal" training sessions, just going to enjoy the time away from boulder with my family....I am going to be working hard enough the next six months, it's time to take a deep breath, enjoy the calm before the storm, so to speak....
